Showtime

poetboy123

Practicing every day and every night

Repeated it thousands of times, never getting it right

Flash forward, standing on the stage

Only a couple minutes, feeling like an age

Lights are on

Pressure is on

So come on what are you gonna say?

Sending out the words to create an atmosphere of confidence

A veil to cover the truth until the lies become their own reality

Sweat stops, heart beat quickens, excitement flurries from absence

Sentences shooting out with such force like a demon’s been set free

Mouth moving, soul screaming, as the words come pouring out

Lights on, pressure on, flowing like a river, expunging doubt

Minutes, their only minutes, though they’re feeling like an eternity

Lights fade, emotion evaporates, show’s over nothing left to see

All words needing to be spoken have been set free
