Thy Will Be Done - Thomas á Kempis Series - 3

orchidee

Tune: Sandys

('Teach me, my God and King')

********

Most kind Jesus, grant me

Your grace, may I it see

Dwelling and working in me sure

Abiding evermore

Grant me always to will

What will best please you still

And to desire what you desire

Stir in me, holy fire

May it acceptable

Be unto you, I call

Unto you, pray your will be mine

True whole and true divine

Let my will here follow

Your will, conform, and know

Your plans, purposes, what you choose

My self deny and lose

Grant I the world not know

Its will, its ways and show

But to die to all worldly things

My heart to you sole sings

For your sake may I be

Despised, unknown here, see

And love such state, humility

From worldly passions free

Grant me to rest in you

You refresh me anew

You the heart's true peace, comforted

My life in you is hid

Outside of you, restless

Hard all is, profitless

In you who give true peace I rest

I dwell, am endless blessed

Thanks Fred. I've added my own words, incorporating them into this, originally a prayer by Thomas Kempis.

Thanks Gold. Did we meet Tom (Thomas) in person in the 15th Century?!

Well I did, he was in that monastery that we visited and got thrown out of as you put water in their wine!
