Around The Farm
There was a pig and a horse
each needing to be fed
A mule that wouldn’t listen
And chickens in a shed
A beautiful little orchard
Some apples and some pears
Some peach trees and a walnut
And preserves for the county fair
A spring-fed little well
With plenty drinking water
A garden with corn and potatoes
A milk cow with her fodder
Some sparrows and a barn owl
Some dogs and a cat
A little herd of sheep
And many hungry rats
A tractor and a baler
A shovel and a rake
A pasture full of coastal
A hayfield where we played
A porch swing and a hammock
A pony and a goat
A little picnic table
And plenty country folks

Living most of my life in rural America, this write hits home for me. I love it. Perfect meter. Good stuff.
