Sometimes the path we follow crosses
Unexpectedly, by fate I suppose,
With that of another who treads
A completely different journey,
Not at all like our own, yet we
See in them an inner beauty
So rare and precious that
It cannot be denied.
Though we try for a time
To walk hand in hand,
A parting of the ways
Is unavoidable as we
Reach the inevitable
Fork in the road.
Thank you for sharing your
Unique journey with me.
The paths that we follow
Now tear us asunder.
Yet it must be.

- Comment from author about the poem: Sometimes, sadly, the only thing we have in common with rare 'others' we meet on our committed paths is ... neither beliefs, backgrounds, journeys, nor the way the world is seen ... but mutual appreciation of the unique beauty in the other's soul. Some treasures found must only be appreciated, not acquired.

And so it was ever thus - so well expressed Louis
Yes, and so it was. Thanks for your support, Michael.
Louis, your excellent poem expresses both the beauty and the loss of this special kind of 'togetherness' we sometimes experience with another person. A connection that might seem 'otherwordly' rather than based on shared interests. Beautiful writing!
She indeed is 'otherworldly' as you say. Never met anyone quite like her ... an almost child-like, spontaneous soul who constantly exudes her inner beauty.
Thank you for your understanding comment and compliment on the poem, Fred!

I can't believe this. What you writing in this poem is what's going on in my life. You wrote it so nice.
Thank you for your sweet response, M&M. I\'m sure many of us experience this along the way. Not a waste, however, but a life lesson. Thanks for making it a fav!
The feel of deep loss after beautiful togetherness wrings through your lines and ends with a truth - yet it must be - - a powerful poem expressing rare meetings of special souls - this I can relate to dear Louis.
As I'm sure you can, Fay, through powerful expressions in your own deep poems. Thank you so much for your complimentary commenting on being able to relate!
