Tune: Unde Et Memores
('And now, O Father, mindful of the love')
********
Father in the Son, Son in Father sure
You live and reign and rule for evermore
And with the Spirit, Trinity e'er blessed
This be our witness, this our tongues confessed
For none higher than you can ever be
We praise you, formal or extempore
You invite to Communion, call our hearts
Seeking to possess us in all our parts
Your living Spirit to us dwell within
To form us in Christ's image, free from sin
Great destiny of man, your love prevails
Persevering with us through all entails
Still, still, heart, mind, and meditate a while
Let nought of body, soul, spirit, defile
But come into His presence by His grace
By faith behold, and look upon His face
Though no human in actuality
Can see God's face, He the Eternity
Bring peace, forgiveness, comfort to each soul
See now our deepest longings, make us whole
For you do see all things, whether we see
Or not, but all to you open it be
Things visible to us, and too unseen
You Lord of all, view all things, none are mean
So partaking of this your bread and wine
'Tis a rich banquet, pure and sweet and fine
Water of life, come close, come quench our thirst
And so from us shall living streams outburst
With bread of life, sustain us, sanctify
Thus hid in you, we safe, shall never die
Praise, praise to you Lord, risen from the dead
You e'er alive, and you our glorious Head
Keep us your servants, guard us from all ill
And feed us with your provisions good still
'Til day does dawn, the everlasting morn
Which heavenly beauties shall e'er adorn

- Comment from author about the poem: An extempore / free-flow write in 10.10.10.10.10.10. metre, with a meditative theme and tune. The clip says 'Do not drag'. So no 'dragging' singing there!

Another very good write, orchidee! While I am not really religious, I do enjoy your writing!!!
Thanks Fred. You do as some do - comment on the general poem, style, etc, which is appreciated as well as the 'religious' aspect and comments.
Wonderful hymn, orchidee! Beautiful.
Thanks Christina.
The Lord is always with us Orchi.
Be warned the Wedding poem will arrive on All Hallows Eve, you have been warned.
Thanks Gold. Will the hymn have a funeral-type theme, cos the end is nigh for me?! lol.
You will have to wait and see, but the music is all planned.
