What defines us?
Or more specifically ...
What have we chosen to define our lives?
To some, their experience in the military
Was the defining moment of their life.
To some, it was a traumatic event
Experienced in childhood.
It could be a great achievement
In their practiced career ...
The loss of a relationship,
Or the death of a child.
I think we'll be surprised to learn
It wasn't those 'big' moments at all,
But random 'insignificant'
Small acts of kindness
Forgotten about.

This is very true, those small acts of kindness can be so meaningful throughout our lives.
Possibly the most meaningful. Thanks for your thoughts, Goldie!
Probably the small things, I reckon! Reminds of the widow's mite. Seems completely useless, humanly speaking, to put two mites in a 'collection' box, yet it was the quality, not the quantity that mattered. A fine write Louis.
I absolutely agree, 'O', and I appreciate your thoughts!
The value of random acts of kindness so well outlined in this tribute to taking time for reflection Louis - a very good read.
Thank you my wise friend. Your input is appreciated, as always.
Great write
Thanks for reading, Tony.
Welcome
Great food for thought in this so well written poem, Louis. I have come to depend on your 'eye-openers'! The first stanza stopped me. Don't think I have an answer, maybe because of what you say in your last stanza.
Yes, I feel strongly the our perspectives will shift considerably in retrospect. Thanks so much for your thoughts on this, Fred!
