Tune: Doncaster
('Put thou thy trust in God')
1 Thessalonians 4 v.13-18
********
You souls that sleep, we pray
We shall meet you one day
When gathered in the heavenly fold
There shall be joys untold
We have a hope, we sing
Of life Jesus does bring
If we believe He died and rose
So shall those who Him chose
Those He chose, now passed on
Before us they have gone
He will bring them on His return
Darkness to light shall turn
For the Lord shall descend
And there shall be no end
Of life eternal, for no doubt
We shall hear victory shout
Voice of archangel high
Trump of God by and by
The dead in Christ they shall first rise
We meet them in the skies
We who are then alive
Shall meet them, shall not strive
But caught up with them in the clouds
Where no death mourning shrouds
And so shall we ever
Be with them, part never
And lasting comfort with Him when
Him, [and] loved ones we see then

A bit of explaining - predestination! In verse 2 I put 'Those who Him chose'. Then in verse 3, if not contradictory 'Those He chose'.
I think it's both. I saw a pic of the gate of heaven. On God's side it said 'Called by God before the foundation of the world'.
On human being's side it said 'Whosoever will, let them come'.
Yes the two sides of "chose" in this enlightening verse tell us a lot about the need to choose rightly - thanks for the explanation though Orchi.
Thanks Fay.
