Not Giving In

poetboy5454

I will rise and I will fall

I will cry and I will crawl

Yet through it all

I will not give in

When the odds are stacked against me

When victory is too far to see

When silence becomes more than a memory

When I feel I am no longer free

Listen to my heartbeat

Pounding, though it may be discrete

Hasn’t stopped, not yet

Still more opportunities to get

Chin up, head high

Aiming past the sky

Passion tells no lie

I will not give in

Night descends and darkness grows

Night descends and stars begin to glow

Night descends and a haunting wind blows

Night descends with the rise of our foes

Still, my breaths enter and exit without fail

Though heavy and weary from this mountain I scale

Through every storming sea I will still sail

Seizing every chance no matter how poor or frail

Soul blazing with a fury

Staring beyond what I can see

Destiny calling from within

I will not give in
