Roses

FredPeyer

He just wanted

Some sex

Men are like that

But she wanted

Love

Women are like that

He said I compromise

If you let me have sex

What kind of compromise

She asked

Don’t know, he said

You tell me

Can you show your love for me

At least a little bit

She asked

How much is a little bit

He asked

Enough for me to feel it

She said

Feel what, he said

Love, she said

Sorry, he said

Don’t know how to

Make you feel love

Can I just give you some

Roses?

Men are like that

aah yes, the compromise between spouses. But it doesn't have to be that way if the mutually love and want each other.

    • FredPeyer

Thanks, AP! Was not really thinking of spouses when I wrote this. More of a 'universal' kind of situation, making fun of the stereotype male/female relationship. But you are right, it does not have to be that way and usually is not, in a loving relationship.

And sadly, sometimes it's a marriage of convenience based on sex or money, usually ending in divorce.

A fine write Fred. Slap and tickle? A bit of the 'other'? Too swoony for me, I bet! heehee.

        • FredPeyer

Thanks, orchidee! You bet this is a 'slap and tickle'! Just poking a little fun at the 'men are from mars, women are from venus' crowd.

This one captures the stereotypical male quite well, Fred ... sadly. But then, offsetting that stereotype, there are male poets who can think beyond the animal instincts we all are born with. Such is nature's design.
          Well written piece, my friend.

Thanks Louis, it was meant as a tongue in cheek piece about stereotype, see my comments above. That is the beauty of writing. It does not matter how we are or how we think, we can 'invent' situations, make it serious or funny.

A very good lighthearted write, Fred! I enjoyed it very much. Sounds like a conversation between a couple that just met. Nevertheless, a great write!

            • FredPeyer

Thank you Christina, just a way of poking fun at my own gender! And just so you know, I would NEVER do something like that!!! 🙂

            • WL Schuett

Fun poem , can I just get some roses ... that’s hilarious

              • FredPeyer

Thanks for getting it, WL! Poking a little fun at ourselves here.

              • Goldfinch60

Good fun write Fred, the stereotypical male it may be but as you and I know when love happens it has nothing to do with sex.

                • FredPeyer

Thanks so much, Goldfinch! When you are right, you are right.

                • myself and me

Sex and love, he and she, simple, straight and fun. Roses, the compromise.

                  • FredPeyer

Thanks, m&m, if it would only be so easy!
