There would be no need of
Church, Synagogue, Mosque, Temple
If all chose worshiping at the alter
Of the profound, unmysterious,
Golden Rule.

Erm, yes, though is the Rule a 'thing'? I feel people need some Being to worship.
And therein lies the problem. For most, it is not enough to honor our creator in our hearts and accept responsibility for our lives ourselves. Treating people as we would wish to be treated, to me, is the highest form of practicing a "religion".
Thank you so much for your always kind response to my work, 'O'!
I'm horribly intolerant of some 'religions'. Not that I say 'Agree with me, or I'll kill you!' though!
Give me some time to think this over, Louis! It is four simple lines, but not a simple subject!!!
Check out my reply to Orchidee above, Frank. All the trappings of religions are but theatrical 'sets' upon which their play is performed to satisfy the need of those who choose to adopt a convenient, pre-digested dogma rather than seek their own beliefs ... either because it is easier, or they are not ready for the journey to their own truths. To me, the Golden Rule is all one needs to practice along the way.
Thanks for commenting, my friend!
Very true LOUIS ~ BUT from whence comes the GOLDEN RULE ~ I find mine in the BIBLE ~ especially inn the PSALMS. BUT I cannot just have the GOLDEN RULE(S) without being either a JEW or a CHRISTIAN ~ Because I was born (1983) into a Christian Home ~ I am a Christian ~ OK ~ Yours BRIAN
I respect whatever works for you, my friend. Thanks for commenting.
I agree , simple words but powerful... the golden rule ....Imagine !
What a concept, right? One cannot go wrong treating others that way. I appreciate very much your supportive comment, WL!
