Tune: Aberystwyth
('Jesu, lover of my soul')
1 John Chapter 4 parts
********
Here is love, not that we loved
God, He first loved, we beloved
Sent His Son to take our place
Saviour over every race
Propitiation was He
Comfort through eternity
Mild sacrifice, offering
Eternal life did us bring
Beloved, if God so here
Loved us, counted us so dear
We ought one another love
Empowered by Spirit, dove
No one has seen God, no time
Through history's pages, rhymes
Yet if we love each other
God dwells in sister, brother
Dwells in each one, family
Of believers, love we see
Shared among His people true
With His grace He does endue
So in loving, His love grows
In us, till perfection knows
Each child of God, so we blessed
Dwelling in us, heavenly guest
We can know and can believe
Love of God to us, receive
Can each one, and be assured
He is God and He is Lord
God is love, and they that dwell
In love dwell in God, and tell
That they dwell in Him, and He
Dwells in them eternally
Herein our love made perfect
That we may stand, no defect
Before Him having boldness
In day of judgement no less
Because as He is, love, so
Are we in this world, Him know
This our life, our confidence
Living, loving, penitence
In this love there is no fear
For when perfect love is here
It does cast out fear because
Fear has torment sure, it does
Hinder, blight, and paralyse
Those who fear, we realise
Not made perfect in love they
Yet they can grow in love's way

Love that last stanza, orchidee! The whole poem is well written, as always, but that last stanza made me stop and think.
Thanks Fred. They\'re not all my original words. The original is from the Bible Chapter verses. I suppose fear in the \'afraid\' sense, but not the \'awe\' sense\', and love can\'t really go together. So such folk, many I assume, including me, are not perfected (e.g. matured, integrated, etc) in love. Yet we can all grow in love, as in the last line.
Of course we all have fears here and there. I think this means a general attitude or outlook of fearfulness. What\'s all this \'thinking\' here? Got headache now! lol.
Good write, is only we could all "grow in love's way".
Thanks God. I suppose we're not all seeking that way. Yet we know it's not just a quaint poetic line. And - am I 'thinking' too much? Will it be dangerous?! lol.
