Raised in love from a child to a man
He thought he had a perfect plan
Believed in God, his Father his Friend
whose wonderful love would never end
A loving wife and son had he,
and land as far as the eye could see
Thankful to God his Father, his Friend
whose love he knew would never end.
The dogs of war were unleashed to feed
On man’s ambition and human greed

The son was taken from the man
To fight and die in some foreign land
His wife from sorrow withered and died
The man left bitter and empty inside
Where was his God, his Father, his Friend?
Where was the love that would never end?
He knew God gave up His only son.
That was God’s choice, the man had none
Shouting curses at the God he once loved
Knelt in fear of God’s rage from above

Waited for the roaring sound of His voice
To rain down on Earth with lightning force
Condemning him for his doubt and ire
Hurling him into brimstone and fire
But the voice he heard said not a word
It filled the air with sounds unheard
It whispered through the tops of trees
And lingered gently in the evening breeze
With a love for him that would never end
Reached the arms of his God, Father, and Friend
