I will die
No doubt about it
Don’t know
Where, how, or when
The where not important
The how maybe worrisome
The when a big question
With death following me
Like an orphaned shadow
I get drunk on the pitcher of life
Rejoicing in the beauty and adventure
Making every minute count
Looking forward into the sun
Oblivious to the shadow behind

Yes I like this. I also never look back or regret what might have been - I just rejoice in what was and I continually look forward to what I can achieve tomorrow.
Thanks so much Michael! That's the spirit!
Fred, you bring the light of death to the forefront in a manner few can do. well written with a thought provoking attitude.
Thank you Kevin! We might as well get a lot of livin in as long as we can!
Fear not the other side my friend, but live each day to its fullest. Your presence here in the physical world is just a trial run for the real world. Great write Fred.
Ah, thanks, AP! I am probably on my fifth or sixth trial run, and don't seem to be getting anywhere!
Maybe you're in PARK or NEUTRAL?
A fine write Fred. Some 'die every day' as it were - when they hear me sing! Well, something dies inside of them - all hope is gone that my tune will improve! lol.
Thanks, orchidee, lol! I don't think anybody can sing that bad. From the way you write your hymns, you must have the voice of an angel! But then, do we really know how angels sing?
Thanks Fred. There's angels in that 'other place' too - evil ones. They probably screech in torments - like me sometimes? heehee.
Just keep looking forward and as you say, stay "oblivious to the shadow behind'. Great poem! And awesome attitude about life.
Thank you Christina, and yes, never look back!!! Whatever happens back there is none of our concern, and we could not change it anyway. All that counts is happening right in front of you!
That's right we have to make every second count! Absolutely love the line "oblivious to the shadow behind"
Thank you skye! Want to tell you the same thing I just wrote to Christina and Martina above! (Have to save some ink on my screen!)
Great write
Thank you Tony for reading and commenting! I do appreciate it.
Welcome
Nice one. A few months ago i woke from what i look back on as about ten years of doing/achieving nothing with my life. You can bet that i live the words of your piece here to the full. Good to read.
Thank you da! Am very glad you 'woke up'. It is so easy to fall into a routine, do the same thing day after day. And then suddenly one day you realize what is happening. I said it before on another comment: The only difference between a rut and a grave is depth!
