Vultures and Doubt

Birddie Jane

Vultures and Doubt

I was so happy

I was so excited

I couldn't wait for the future

To see what we would be

But one person

Planted a seed

And doubt started to grow

But how do I tell you

How do I tell you

That I love you

But I'm scared it wont last

How do I tell you

I know you are faithful

But I have people telling me

You might not always be

Because there will always be someone

Who is smarter

And more beautiful

Than me

Not getting to see you

Being so far away

Is already so hard

So why do vultures come in

Tearing my mind apart

And leaving their seeds

In the chaos they create

I want so badly

To be with you

But will they allow us

To figure this out on our own

With out the vultures and doubt

  • Comment from author about the poem: My boyfriend and I have only been together for a few weeks. however he has been my best friend for the past six years. In may of this year (2017) he left for boot camp, its been almost 7 months that I haven't seen him. I know that it is not easy being an army girlfriend let alone in a biracial relationship but I love him and I am willing to work through it. The hardest part is when others ask me if I am prepared for it if I am strong enough. I don't doubt my feelings for him or his feelings for me. What I do doubt however is how strong the future is. It is always changing and never certain of anything. Will our love be stronger than this world we live in?

HI JESSE ~ Love the pathos and angst in your Poem ~ it is a real dilemma. It is something I have experienced ~ the Pain when you Lover departs for a while and the "Vultures" sow doubts in your mind ! I've never bee engaged or married so I am talking GIRL FRIENDS I have had who have had to go away for a period. I most cases "Absence made our Hearts grow fonder" but in one case She never came back ! I have friends who are BIRACIAL couples and the "Vultures" can be more snidey about them ! Thinking of you ~ Every Blessing for the future ~ BRIAN (UK) Please check my Poems ~ Thanks B.

Thank you so much Brian for your wonderful comment. Your words of encouragement mean the world to me and I am so honored to have someone across the pond who liked my poem. (in cheeky excited voice "that's so cool!") I will definitely read your poems as well. Have a wonderful day and an amazing holiday season.
