Her eyes are what draws you in
Brilliant strong eyes
They are filled with desires
Hope
Dreams
Fears
The eyes are the window to the soul
But her eyes have barriers
Not letting anyone in
Not trusting many people
Her face smooth but powerful
Obviously liking the outdoors
Surrounded by natures finest work
Using her surrounding as protection from the outside world
She could be an Amazon warrior
She has the intensity
The strong face
She is the focal point of what the photographer sees
Of what they want us to see
Her eyes that is what you are drawn to
Those eyes that are filled with ambition
Filled with the scares of the things she has witnessed

The eyes that can stare right through you. Perhaps she can see what's there, and she still looks to see someone to trust.
A first rate description of the face in the picture - - so strong yet beguiling the look in those eyes.
M.E.M., this is a very fine poem about the power of eyes. The girl in the picture is Gula, an Afghan refugee in a Pakistani refugee camp, on the cover of National Geographic, and she went through hell at an early age. The last line in your poem says it all!
Thank you so much
