The Victoria Line

FineB

I got on the Victoria Line at Brixton,

Bedazzled by a Bowie tribute at the Ritzy,

I had a Bacardi Breezer hangover,

Through Pimlico to Warren Street I felt ditzy.

I reached Highbury and Islington,

On board were jubilant, energetic Arsenal football fans,

They sang as the train travelled through North London,

Walthamstow Central, East London the train stops and finally lands.

  • Comment from author about the poem: Where would anyone be in London without the London Underground, the main transport network connecting everyone around London, East, West, North and South. The Victoria Line in London runs from Brixton in South London, through Central and North London finally ending in East London at Walthamstow Central. I had the pleasure of using this line on the night of 16.11.2017 to travel up to Brixton and see the legendary Blondie perform at the 02 Brixton Academy venue as part of their UK tour. Debbie Harry - what can I say at 72, still beautiful, smoking and brilliant. Blondie Rocks!

As a Londoner myself and from years experience travelling into town on the Piccadilly Line this resonates. Great work Fine - hope to see more.

Although I know I'll never have the wonderful experience of crossing the pond to see your beautiful country and city, your poem here makes me want to be there only more. And yes, BLONDIE ROCKS!

      Hi Accidental Poet,

Glad that you liked this poem. Never say never. You never know you may make it to London.

One of the cleaning staff where I work is a devout Christian and always wanted to go to the Holy Land. However, she felt she could not because of finances and her age. You know what she ended up going miraculously and came back healed and whole from her wonderful experience there.
