Anxious Me

jonnyc1

Clinching a fist, gripping the fear to lessen the quake

Blocking the light, pleading to sleep, never to wake

Swallow the pulse, strangle the heart, hiding it all

Evading the light to enter the dark, avoiding the fall

Hating to love to cancel the hurt, to find what lasts

Shatter the glass to find the air to finally gasp

Searching for peace, for a moment with nothing, no one

Watching, listening to everything, anything hoping to drown

Catching a moment, a clinging a thought to erase the pain

Crawling through regret, a muddy mess to escape the horror

Sinking in deep, wading in waves to reach the shore

Hoping it goes, needing to escape to feel less shame

Begging for more, wanting much less, no more game
