The Proof

Fay Slimm.

The Proof.

She had eaten
the proof of amour's iridescence,
taken love's juice
and emptied desire to its deepest dregs.

She sweetened by
patience the taste of long distance,
wasted no chance
for contact to compensate union missed.

She feasted when
late table made laden approaches,
imbibed ripened
and ready affection with eyes widely open.

She had embraced
given gold of a satisfied closeness,
quenched needy thirst
so matters no more years of being alone.

She knew only
once the romance of a lifetime
therefore memory's
pearl is treasured and worn with a smile.
