Keeping gratefulness on my plate

Poetic Dan

When I'm out you may see a smile
A spin around on my skates

Yesterday a tune was playing
As my eyes were closed I could see my kids
Every tear that followed was because if I opened them they would not be so near

Once it was finished as the tune slowly faded out
The same happened to the pictures in my mind
As I took in the light there was a choice
Sit and get lost in memories of them
Or get out and live it
ready for when they return

This morning I looked at the last date I got to properly hug them
It's only been 19 days, knowing that's nothing in their whole life
How can this be so hard?

Maybe it's because the hours of their smile in my mind
Maybe it's the every minute and moment their hand is with my step
Maybe it's every second that their spirit fills my lungs
Maybe it's just every millisecond of my being on this plane and the proud father they help my become

Whatever it is, I need find the strength to stay the man I've now found deep within
Trying to love every moment in life
Always greatful for what is on my plate
Love, laugh, cry and live
At least I'm never going to go hungry

Kids are so important and the most important thing you can give them (and they to you) is time. Good write.
