Tune: Tallis' Evening Hymn
('All praise to thee my God, this night')
********
Forgive me Lord, I fear and fret
And your love, mercies, do forget
Though we human, we cannot know
All things, why you have made some so
But help us trust, your will discern
That we in you more grow and learn
Leaving all in your tender care
There they shall prosper and well fare
In doubts and turmoils, mind's distress
May we come to you, and confess
Your wisdom be best, higher than
Thoughts, plans, workings of any man
So in searching our own hearts we
Pray your Spirit our guide shall be
Patience and perseverance give
We shall grow as in you we live
On day by day, 'tis all you ask
To tend to each day's duties, tasks
Not stay in past of yesterday
Nor anxious of tomorrow's way
For each day given from your hand
You sustain all of every land
Help us your kingdom to seek first
And to do your will be our thirst

Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
A lovely prayer and full of faith as it is the read warmed my heart dear Orchi - - my favourite line has to be - "We shall grow as in you we live" - - how true.
Thanks Fay. We know there can be distractions, frustrations, etc. where we may not grow, or not grow much. Which is worse - to stand still, or go backwards? Neither of which produce any growth. Well, maybe a little growth even if standing still.
"nor anxious of tomorrows way"--good hymn orchi!
Thanks Christina. That's me at times - maybe many of us now and again. That line, and/or "stay in past of yesterday". Then we never focus on "today" as we may be fussing about what's happened (past), or what may happen (future). I mean - am I practising what I 'preach'?!
Thanks Orchidee! You've written another winner.
Thanks wc.
Wow this is one of the most awesome invocation n supplication in great super flow n rhyming that I've ever read. God must love it too amen. I totally adore such devotional poems ESP if written so well. Kudos.
So nice to read from your pen again,
Do pls review my latest too.
Thanks Zaynab. I suppose it could be thought of as ESP, though I'm not into any spooky stuff - if it means Extra Sensory Perception?
When I saw the title, orchidee, I thought you were gonna write about your marriage to KP. Am glad you did not!
Thanks Fred. Oh, if so, it would have been a terrible, heavy, hideous write. One of torture and torment, etc, etc.... You got a spare key to this ball and chain tied to my leg? KP put it there and threw away the key. heehee.
