Remember

Seeker

Remember me for all the good I tried
and when I failed the many tears I cried
Remember me for love I thought I had,
and hate I lied about, that made me sad

Remember me because I would not trade
proof’s boasts for empty credos ever prayed
Remember me for thinking vainly, themes
that overplayed my haunted wistful dreams

Remember me for strutting for a fool
while wearing raiment as his silly tool
Remember me as you reflect on birth;
For my new midlife and its mordant mirth

Remember me when thinking of my death
and the brief time permitted for our breath
Remember, after the end of our days
we are but embers in a splendent blaze
