Tune: St Francis Xavier
('My God, I love thee, not because')
Psalm 38 part
********
O LORD, in wrath rebuke me not
Or fearsome be my lot
Nor in hot displeasure chasten
Us, we who are mere men
For 'tis as your arrows in me
Stuck fast in me they be
And as your hand heavy does press
Me, if I not confess
Not confess my sins, hold them tight
Abhorrent in your sight
So no soundness in my flesh be
For you are angry, see
Nor rest in my bones day or night
Burdens hard, they not light
They too much are for me to bear
Others cannot them share
For I my sin I will declare
To you Lord, just and fair
I shall sorrow, penitent be
Come, forgive and cleanse me
Forsake me not, you are my Lord
You have each living word
Make haste to help me, for you give
Salvation, I shall live

Orchi, re second stanza: How many arrows did KP shoot into you?
But as you say in the last stanza: You shall live!
Thanks Fred. Ohh I thought it was Cupid's arrow, but no! I see how you mean - if having a minor accident, we may say to a child 'You'll live'. Dunno if I will survive though. heehee.
I thank God for salvation (last stanza)!
Thanks wc.
Amen.
Thanks Gold.
