DECEIT

Esala

The innocent look in the eyes of an obvious offender

Staring into the eyes of a noble officer

Hoping to convince the officer of his innocence

His conscience gone into oblivion

The glow of truth in the eyes of a politician

Staring down into eyes of the gullible masses

Hoping to convince them that he is the way forward

His conscience forgotten in the dustbin of time

The look of sincerity in the gaze of a student

Staring down into the eyes of his teacher

Hoping to convince his teacher that his undone assignment has been done but forgotten at home

His conscience gradually pilfered by negative influence around

The look of genuineness in the look of a religious leader

Staring into the eyes of his congregation

Hoping to convince them that his twisted message is the right one

His conscience shattered years ago by the devil himself

The act of deceit

Carefully mastered

By all and Sundry

In our ever changing world

WELCOME ESALA ~ Thanks for you first Poem. I love the "free verse" style and the dynamic flow in the neat quatrains which describe and then destroy a phalanx of DECIEVERS we can all relate to and (sometimes) even identify with ! Offenders ~ Politicians ~ Students ~ Religious Leaders ~ We do indeed live in a False & Falsified Era ! There is much room for thought here ~ Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Yours BRIAN (UK) Please check my Poems ~ Thanks B.
