Dear America

PoeticPsycho

Dear America,
Why do you hate my people so much ?
Prison pipelines and police brutality
Just a couple examples of my reality
I see you accusing so and so of such

What is the cause of this long rooted hatred?
Trying to talk down on us
I said "I'm unarmed and mean no harm" yet, you still can't trust?
Can it be because I'm colored?
Cause really, I did nothing wrong
Minding my own business until you came along
You said "I'm threatening" and so you "feared for your safety"
But man, I swear, every time you stop me my voice gets shaky and my words come out hasty
I'm the one fearing for my safety

But I pray that in the future broken promises can be mended
And that this race war that separates us all can be ended
Because truth be told, it won't get us anywhere
We're killing each other over pieces of our only planet so we need to share
