Upon the setting of the eternal day,
And the descent to a world of blackened night,
What was once a welcomed, beloved dream
Becomes an unwelcomed and tormented nightmare!
And the descent to a world of blackened night,
What was once a welcomed, beloved dream
Becomes an unwelcomed and tormented nightmare!
To where has all of this been taken?
To where shall all of this be brought?
Life is but a series of darkened shadows
Flickering beneath eternity's hellish flame.
To where shall all of this be brought?
Life is but a series of darkened shadows
Flickering beneath eternity's hellish flame.
What was once alive, vigorous, and divine,
Has been crucified, tortured, and abandoned.
What was once filled with passionate, love,
Has been hollowed out with the spade of time.
Has been crucified, tortured, and abandoned.
What was once filled with passionate, love,
Has been hollowed out with the spade of time.
It is in this moment of painful reflection,
This agonizing moment of realized despair,
That one finally reaches the depths,
The eternal depths of hopeless existence.
This agonizing moment of realized despair,
That one finally reaches the depths,
The eternal depths of hopeless existence.
Yet who wants to lose hope?
Who, in all of life, wants to be hopeless?
It is experience that betrays and arrests us,
It is knowledge that blinds and binds us to hope.
Who, in all of life, wants to be hopeless?
It is experience that betrays and arrests us,
It is knowledge that blinds and binds us to hope.
For what is ever truly known about anything?
What experience can be counted as truly real?
Knowledge is beneath the flickering shadows,
Experience is all that we really know.
What experience can be counted as truly real?
Knowledge is beneath the flickering shadows,
Experience is all that we really know.
Yet what measure of experience holds truth?
We are trapped in the shadow lands of the gods,
Trapped beneath the weight of knowledge,
And trapped beneath the reality of not knowing.
We are trapped in the shadow lands of the gods,
Trapped beneath the weight of knowledge,
And trapped beneath the reality of not knowing.
What could be known about each other,
Is forever lost amongst the flickering shadows.
What was once alive and full of vigor,
Is now slumped over a table of tribulation.
Is forever lost amongst the flickering shadows.
What was once alive and full of vigor,
Is now slumped over a table of tribulation.

Very sincere, wise and deep reflection, dear Tristan! Best wishes,
Thank you my dear friend! I am glad it resonated! Best wishes to you as well! 🙏🖤🐦⬛
A poem of falling darkness and grim reality that shadows future hopes. I hope that a new day awakens with sunny skies. Well written Tristan
Thank you Soren! Yes, indeed, sunnier days did arrive. I actually wrote this years ago...but forgot to add my copyright info! LOL! Thanks for that reminder 🤣. I really do appreciate your analysis, and the time it takes to come to that, my friend. 🙏🖤🐦⬛
Really enjoyed this one - I read it aloud for the full impact and well worth it.
Hi Michael, thank you very much for reading it aloud and for your feedback! Much appreciated! 🖤🙏 I am really glad this resonated!
Excellent write Tristan
Thank you so much Tony! Always appreciated! 🙏🖤🐦⬛
You're welcome
A nightmare i have frequented before in the past, i find it to be a deep thinking and very honest piece of well written poetry, which i will read again later, Thank you Tristan
You are most welcome Tobani! Thank you for your time and your thoughtful feedback. I am honored you plan to read again. So...thank you, my friend! 🙏🖤🐦⬛
You are very welcome
I always asked myself whether hope is an outcome of leap of faith or is it rooted in knowledge and experience. Never could find the answer. The poem opened the door of those thoughts - perhaps, opened doesn't do justice, more like banged open.
Brilliant poem!
Thank you so much! I am glad when something I write is able to inch open a door let alone band them open, lol! Thank you my friend for reading it and musing on it philosophically. I am really glad you connected with it and that it resonated. I always appreciate your thoughful feedback my friend! 🙏🖤🐦⬛
and it gets bad again, like the sun setting, we cant prevent it
Indeed. 💯 And, most revered Ninja, you masterfully distilled my poem down to a three part proposition. LOL! Thank you so much for your time, your thoughtful engagement and for showing us your ninja skills of distillation! 😂 Seriously, friend, I truly value your astute and concise analysis! 🙏🖤🐦⬛ And I hope you don't mind my playful ninja banter...it's truly only because I respect you as a poet/artist...and I happen to think ninjas are damn cool too! 🗡️ LOL!
if there's anything at all I can do well, it is most certainly simplifying something! To take an art piece and say "that is a house" is easier than saying "that is a house. the windows are broken. it seems abandoned but I've seen her come around. it is most certainly a house, was never homey. though the people were easily fooled by the bright red door. nobody knew pieces were missing, mom drinking, dad sleeping. the empty bottles lay overgrown in the grass, a tangible reminder of the past." (lol lowkey might write a poem about this now haha. I hate to simplify such a beautiful work, but I've found the more poems I write the more simple I tend to get! I don''t mind, I find it pretty silly/funny! with this kind of username, I never expected to be taken seriously!
LOL! Trust me, my friend, I very much do take you seriously. The name rocks and it just shows the personality behind the poems. There's nothing wrong with that. I love humor and so I use it a lot...but then I've realized not everyone gets my humor, let alone finds it funny...so, every now and again I think to pause and double check! 🤣 But, with all that said, I am glad that you find my being playful with your username to be silly/funny as opposed to annoying/offensive! I was hoping it was making you smile/laugh. 😅
yes/for sure
Great questions, Tristan.
I guess in this situation
Intellect's incision
Cannot complete the mission
Over to intuition!
Neat and memorable verse, my friend. Indeed. Thank you so much for reading and for your thoughts on it. Always appreciated. 🙏🖤
Wow what a deep,
dark 🌑 and scary
poem and true in
many ways! 😢
I pray that hope will
bring us out of this haze. 🙏
Terrific read, much enjoyed! 👍
Best regards ✌️ Thad
Thank you so much Thad. I truly appreciate your time and feedback, my friend! Much appreciated! 🙏🖤 I am glad it resonated!
This is so well written, but it speaks to me of a really dark place. Deep and suffocating in its sorrow. I hope there was a glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel that you could hold on to. Without hope we are finished. Excellent reflection Tristan.
Thank you my dear friend...for your time, your analysis and your empathy. Yes, there was hope at the end of this particular tunnel, though aspects of it still follow and haunt. Such is life! All the same, I am truly thankful for you Cassie! 🖤🙏
