Tune: Pastor Pastorum
('Faithful Shepherd, feed me')
Psalm 13
********
How long, LORD, you forget
Not think on me yet?
Will you your face hide here?
Woe to me, betide
How long shall I sorrow
Not your comfort know?
How long enemy be
Exalted o'er me?
Consider and hear me
LORD, my troubles see
Lighten my eyes, me keep
Lest I sleep death's sleep
Lest my enemy say
'I have had my way
Have prevailed and o'ercome
Victory I have won'
And lest those that trouble
me when I near fall
And rejoice against m
When my state they see
But I have here trusted
Your mercy, you led
Me from troubles, saving
Praises you I bring
I shall in you rejoice
Lifting heart and voice
For you have dealt bounteous
With all, even us

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.5.6.5. metre. An older poem, not sure when written by date, but written 'some 250 poems ago'. Not that there are 250 poems queuing up to be posted! It's one that got missed.
