On a winding road
It is easy to forget
With such a heavy load
Just how far you have trekked
When you turn to glance back
And see nothing behind
You're reminded of all you lack
And dismiss how high you have climbed
In the shifting shadows of the night
It is far too dark to see the flowers
But you grew them, to great heights
And they'll be seen in the daylight hour
So when the night is so very cold
And you feel like a waste of space
Remember the pure magic you hold
And each of the monsters you have faced
For you are a miracle, dear star
May you always remember
That your fire lights the dark
Even if for now, it is only embers
So upon your winding path
Look on with courage and grit
And should your eyes shift to your mighty past
Look beyond the hills that block it

- Comment from author about the poem: Hi there... It's been a while. I'm not sure anyone here even remembers me. Let's just say it has been a long, emotional, and draining semester and I have not been in a place to write. (until now). Enjoy! SWTS
