Secrets

midnight drive

It’s no secret that I keep things hidden.
Actions withheld, whispers forbidden.
I’ve never been treated so kindly,
So please forgive me for not trusting blindly.
These words I keep under lock and key,
The words you’ve been longing to hear from me.
If it’s meant to, it will be.

By others, every man unknown
with secrets hidden deep within.
Each man upon his private throne;
man's inner self is sovereign.
.
Michael Edwards

And for these secrets the only key
Is hidden deep inside of me
But what difficulty it would be
To find my secrets under lock and key

  • Comment from author about the poem: So I thought I’d try my hand at collaborating with you guys on a poem as I’ve always loved the community here, only recently joining myself. So this poem is called secrets. In the verse I wrote it’s about not trusting and issues with love. If you have ever felt or do feel that way, or can offer a new perspective, please, don’t be afraid to write a stanza! -Midnight Drive
