The Anticipation

M.E.M.

I wrap and wrap,

presents for Mom and Dad.

But can't wait,

I count the days off.

Another day has gone by,

another day closer.

When will it come?

Why is it not here?

I wait and wait,

the anticipation rising

within me.

Maybe just a peek-

NO.

Well...

Who would it hurt?

The wishful thoughts,

magical moments.

I'll wait,

it's better that way.

no,

but yes!

Oh the anticipation

it kills me.

Almost there,

two more days.

One more day.

oh, hours

oh minutes

slip by quickly.

The anticipation

all about the presentation

but the excitement overpowers.

Oh hours, and minutes.

The day is here,

the time has come!

Presents stacked high,

all for me!

It was worth the anticipation.

It was worth the days,

hours,

and minutes.
