It was Christmas Day,
The girls arrived.
One daughter,
Two granddaughters,
Joined my wife and I
For that special day.
The presents were given,
And at the end
There before me were three books.
One a book of haiku,
A slim volume with beautiful words.
The second was a wonderful tome,
The Shakespeare Sonnets
With beautiful artwork
Adorning each page.
The third was a bigger tome,
The Complete Sherlock Holmes
The gilded edges gleamed in the light.
Wonderful presents
From wonderful granddaughters.
The love from all of us
Pervaded the room.
The family at peace
As we join together in love,
Join together in joy,
Join together as family.
I may be lost for the next year,
I have reading to do!

- Comment from author about the poem: We had Christmas day with our daughter and two granddaughters, a wonderful day. Each of the Granddaughters bought me hardback tomes designed in an old fashioned style, they were delightful. A great day was had by all.

Good write Gold. I got to read a book now, about a talking cat! Will it know any Shakespeare? lol.
I too spent Christmas day with an abundance of love and family. A great one it was, as was yours, Goldie.
So glad about that Louis, time with family is priceless.
