Oh To Be A Swift

w c

Oh To Be A Swift

Oh to be a swift

And tumble in the sky

Quick banks right and left

And climbs from low to high

Moves acrobatic

While hunting in midair

I’d love to fly there too

While the others stopped and stared

In the open spaces

I’d fly with swallows some

With acrobatics too

There maneuvering in the sun

When the day was over

I’d perch in my nest

A little structure I glued

Where I could get some rest

What a wonderful bird your verse celebrates W.C. - I should love to see too what it is like up there in the sky with a swift. Lovely read.

Such a feeling of freedom, where gravity takes a break.

          • w c

Yes L. From gravity the birds fly high.

Wonderful birds swifts. I have been fortunate to help one in the past. At a place where I used to work we had swifts nesting in the roof. One morning I came to work and one had got stuck under the ridge of the building, I got a ladder and freed it to fly once more.
