the scared piece of paper

I sit in a notepad
Amongst my alike thin paper friends
Wandering what my purpose is
wandering what I’m doing here
why so many reflections
why so many pieces of me
I don’t understand
Pieced together
On top of me
underneath me
I’m me with more of me
But I don’t understand my purpose here
Is it to be amongst friends
Of the same likeness
Or is it to be pulled away
Left lonely, frightened
Without my thin paper friends
By my side
I wish I knew
I want to know
Scared because I do not know
What will happen to me
Will I be left
In this notepad
Supported by my hundred friends
Or will someone take me away
Pull me away
No regard for me
Or my friends wanting me to stay
I want to know
Will I be left to live happily, amongst reflections of me
Or will someone take me away
Pull me away from my dearest and only friends
I don’t know
I do not want them to
I wish I’d be left, where I’m happy
Content amongst my friends
But I have no control
It’s out of my hands
Or least it would be if I had any hands

What a good illustration of how lonely a few words can be when unfinished and ready for posting as poetry - a compelling read Charlotte.

hi fay .. thankyou 🙂 it is more about uncertainty and lack of control , how can we feel safe with fear and lack of control by our side? thanks for reading ..

    • yellowrose

yes, and unsure of one's purpose ... can probably be related to many of us, walking around , feeling unsure of why we are here, what is our purpose in life etc. and yes, fear and being taken out of one's comfort zone

I love how you can find such a deep metaphor for the simplest thing like a piece of paper and turn it into an amazing meaningful story you really do have an amazing imagenation.

hi burning crow.. thankyou for reading. glad you enjoyed this . i guess i like giving inanimate things , a voice .. so to speak.. if a piece of paper had feelings , how would it feel .. maybe it would feel in company ,maybe it would feel protected by the other pieces of paper, maybe it would wander to its purpose , maybe it would be fearful and wary of its fate , maybe it would be anxious and vulnerable ... i guess all these type of feelings , we all feel and i guess i've experienced them too ..

                • Burning Crow

It's a really clever way of writing and expressing feelings and different wich is why I like your style of writing. I think a lot of writers chose to use metaphors to express things including myself but I've not come across someone who can does it in the same way you do you defiantly have a knack for writing.
