HER LONG LIFE

HER LONG LIFE

(c) 2018 Edward York

Her life had been a long one,

Her body weak and tired.

The days that she's had lately,

Have all been uninspired.

She has spent her lifetime working,

And survived through every test.

But her life has been so lonely,

Since her husband was laid to rest.

Her days had just seemed longer,

Her nights were longer still.

The solitude that surrounded her,

Had taken all her will.

Her life had lost its meaning,

Left with just memories instead,

She longed to join her husband,

Who had traveled on ahead.

She had entertained his visits,

In the subconscious world she'd slip.

He had come to give her comfort,

And prepare her for the trip.

Aww, it's such a sweet poem that flows so smoothly. I love this poem so much, you are a very talented writer. I love how it so soft, smooth and sad while at the same time it rhymes so well.

Thank you. It is sad but it is a part of life for everyone. The appointment we will all keep.

I think she has felt a little lost ever since he passed. I think she is ready.

Very nicely written, well rhymed, lasergraph! You are right, it happens all the time. When one in a partnership is gone, the other one just doesn't want to stay behind.

I have seen it a lot. IFor some it is a partnership they don't want to end.
