The Cold Moon (February)

Lorna

Month of the Cold Moon

That comes to settle

That puts its keys

On the table in the hall

As soon as the door is opened

It hides even from itself

It watches from the windows

Inside and out

Has its doubts

We sit and wait it out

  • Comment from author about the poem: There is a name for the moon for every month - maybe more than one but the Native American names are the ones I choose. I'm going to try to write something for each one - let's see what happens!

Look forward to the series on naming the different moon as months come and go Lorna - -- this one being the "month of the cold moon" shows its ability to keep folk indoors when trees reflect the glitter of snow - love the picture you chose as illustration.
