Thomas' Trust - Twelve Disciples Series - 7

Tune: St Timothy

('O Holy Ghost, they people bless')

John 20 v.19-29

********

Jesus risen, in room appeared

To disciples, they feared

But peace He gave, shalom, wholeness

With His presence did bless

Thomas not there then at that time

When they saw Christ sublime

He wanting proof and evidence

To trust what he could sense

Then Jesus did appear again

There were eleven men

Said to Thomas, 'Touch me and see

For I not a ghost be'

See my hands wounded and my side

When I was pierced, I died

But rose again, see for yourself

Will be to your soul's health

Be not doubting, nor be faithless

Stay not in fear, distress

But be believing, it is I

Risen, no more to die

'My Lord and my God', Thomas said

Christ risen from the dead

He did reply, me you have seen

I in person have been

Yet blessed they that have seen Christ not

Happy now is their lot

They trust in Him, His salvation

Open to each nation

There were 11 disciples at this stage. Judas Iscariot had gone by then.

Thomas did come to faith in the end. Should he have believed earlier? He did disbelieve the remaining 10 disciples who saw Jesus the first time - odds of 10-1.

Great hymn-poem about our doubting Thomas! So many people need to touch something before they believe in it! Well done, Orchie!

Thanks Fred. I suppose if one of the other disciples had been missing instead of Thomas, that first time, it may have been 'Doubting Peter' or 'Doubting John' or 'Doubting someone else'!

Thanks for the Organ Recital STEVE ~ and the homily on Brother Thomas !
YES I guess I would have doubted my fellow disciples ~ but WHEN THOMAS saw the LORD ~ HE BELIEVED ~ AMEN. In my conversion as a Teen I encountered the Risen Lord Jesus (like PAUL) and I believe in the RESSURECTION because I have been BOIRN AGAIN and filled with the HOLY SPIRIT ~ which makes me a much better person than I would have been ~ AMEN Thanks for the series very uplifting ~ Yours BRAIN

Thanks Brian. The series ends at 10, not 12 - three disciples grouped together. lol. I pay that organ guy overtime, ya know!
