FEMALE EQUALITY ~ An Acrostic Sonnet

BRIAN & ANGELA

 

 

FEMALES  are fifty-one percent 

EACH  Female (XX) is stronger at Birth

MAKING  the point ~ they are equal to Men (XY) ~ In

ALL  aspects of life on Planet Earth & Space ! 

LET  us ALL recognise this "Fact of Life" ~ Give

EVERY  Female an equal chance in EVERYTHING !

 

EMMELINE PANKHURST ~ Fought your rights

QUESTIONING WHY  Ladies were forbidden to VOTE 

UNEQUAL  Treatment ~ also in Promotion & Pay !

AND THE GOVERNMENT  took no notice ~ So She

LED  the SUFFRAGETTES  to secure VOTES for WOMEN !

IN 1918 (6th of February)  They had succeeded

THE LADIES  had been granted the RIGHT to VOTE

YES  it really happened ten years later (1928) and you had to be THIRTY !

Equal Pay for Equal Work ~ Access to all forms of Employment and equal opportunity for PROMOTION ! We are Ruled by a QUEEN in the UK and the best person to be our PRIME MINISTER (President) is a LADY THERESA MAY ! 53% of our GP's (General Medical Practitioners) are Female as are the majority of Medical Students.     A fine write Brian. Let's not start on St Paul and women! Yet I feel it's only a couple of misinterpreted Bible passages, when they were yelling out in church in early days!
    He is for equality too, I feel.

Of Course in any HOSPITAL there are far more FEMALE STAFF than MALE because you are more caring and empathetic ~ especially if you have raised a Family ~ which requires a Female touch ~ You are all Special ~ You are ALL ANGELS !         I like it that you address this problem, and even though it is better now than it was in the past, we are nowhere near where we should be as far as equality between the sexes is concerned. Am happy to say that at least in my marriage we were always equal.

          Thanks FRED ~ Yes indeed ~ Global Gender Equality will always be "A Work in Progress" but in the UK things get a "little better" each decade especially as we have a FEMALE PM and lots of LADIES in Parliament ! ANGELA and I share all important decisions and will carry that into our marriage. Thanks for your affirmation BRIAN
