That Smile

SarahJ

The smile that shines                              Is often the most forged,                        That shiny smile, the laughter lines

It hides a tormented soul                       Not wanting to burden,                           A careless girl that experience stole

Wanting desperately to let you in,         But scared of the certainty                   That is pain & let down sure to win

All this time has built a substantial wall,                                                             Blocked the feelings like ear plugs   to  sound,                                                 Padded heart against the fall.

It is a smile that is painted on,                I'm not ok, it wants to say                      Feeling like the duckling but never      the swan

The eyes though......cannot hide           How the heart aches, oh how it does   Doesn't matter, who cares? the brain   replied.

WELCOME SARAH ~ YOU WILL FIND MPS A VERY EMPATHETIC SITE ~ many of us have been where you are emotionally. Thanks for your First Poem. I love the fragmented style ~ it reflects your broken heart ! The smile on the face of a MAN is all too often the smile of a broken hearted CLOWN ! Thinking of you ~ Every Blessing for the FUTURE ~ Yours BRIAN

a broken format, which I have not seen before. But gives a reflection of how the author feels.
      Nicely written
      Michael 🙂
