UNLATCHED.

Fay Slimm.

Unlatched.

The thin blue flame of my night-burnt fire
grows dim as dawn un-quiets
another day's numberless happenings,
culls light from dark and carries
life forward while I in excited mood watch
first flaps of sparrowed pools lost
on those still bedded and fastened to sleep.

The voice of late-born lambs' fully-grown
bleats thru' cooling moorland
dewed by keen morning and as I catch first
breeze stirring shored boats
as clifftop world yawns above pebbly coves.

My window unlatched wafts woken snatches
of sonance to day's approach
as closeted light opens blue dome
for me to see rising old
Sol's winking invite to seize early moments
and take an inspiring
look at nature's "Carp Diem" all on my own.

Brrrrrr how could you write such a warm inviting nay, encouraging encounter with the dawn on such a cold and frosty occasion. I know you are in our southernmost county but the chill even without the frost is biting.
You must have a very warm spirit to pen these wonderful pieces. A pleasure to read.

Ha ha - - yes indeed dawn during winter can be formidable if we stay out too long in the looking - - not too bad here though for most of the year and I get such inspiration after walking in sunrise and sunset here in Cornwall. My grateful thanks for such a warm comment D.A.

Thanks FAY for another Perfect Poem ~ Only in Cornwall ~ You are so Blessed. I live 12 miles from the SEA ~ I can smell it but can't see it ~ shame. Sometimes I stay with a Friend on the East Coast and the SUNRISES are breathtaking ~ AMEN ~ Yours as ever BRIAN

              • Fay Slimm.

Yes dear Brian - I feel blessed every day here in the south-western part of our island - nature is kind to us who have sunset and sunrise over sea and moorland and can view her different values. So pleased you enjoyed the read.
