A philosophical question for anyone who has an idea.

Imagine my hands are a set of scales.

In my right hand I hold this crazy little thing called love.

You can choose anything you want to place in my left hand

And I will not set limits;

But, of course, you will fail.

What would you choose to balance the scales in your favour?

Please tell me your opinion…

If you have one.

Ohh it's me favourites for me left hand - pork pies and sherries! That'll balance things out! heehee.

Nice. I only have one answer in my mind as to what could be placed in my left hand to find balance, but I will tell you that when somebody else does...

I don't like pork pies or sherry, but to each his/her own.

"Pork pies roasting on an open fire.
      Jack Frost drawing on windows.
'The Bells of St. Ungulant" being sung by a choir,
And sausages strung up with little bows.

Everybody knows, an oak tree dressed up in a pot,
Helps to make the solstice bright.
Gifts from Crumley's for the aunt you forgot,
While also saving turnips, for tonight.

They know the Hogfather is on his way.
Expecting meat pies and some sherry to make him stay,
And every Disc-born child is gonna try,
To see if apple sauce can make those piggies fly!

And so, I'm offering this porcine phrase,
Before the old year becomes new.
May the sun rise 'til the end of your days,
      Happy Hogswatch,
      To you...

And so, I'm offering this porcine phrase,
Before the old year becomes new.
      May the sun rise!
'til he end of your days!
      Happy Hogswatch...
      Happy Hogswatch...to...you..."

Thanks A. It's said 'Faith, hope, and charity/love; the greatest of which is charity'. But then that would be two things for the left hand - faith and hope!

(Here is the 'a' you could not be bothered to type.)

You could put faith and hope in my left hand and the two of them combined would still be outweighed by love.

Oops, too much effort to type another 'a'. heehee. Erm - me singing then, in the left hand? The scales would be completely opposite!

            • Aa Harvey

Lol. Nice answer, but still wrong.

You could try to turn the scales 180 with the aid of cause and effect and trickery, but even if you did, love would find a way to reverse your magic and most love stories (not the Shakespeare tragedies etc.) have a happy ending, so your wonderful singing would still lose out simply through the longevity of love, as love has been here since the dawn of time and it was here before the first sound was ever created and it will still be here long after the last sound has ever been heard. Love has been here a long time and time is continuous.

I am sure you could sing like a soprano in an recording studio and they could digitally enhance your everything and still...
'I love you' from a person who loves you/me/anyone would sound better.

Love reverberates around the room until it finds further space to discover and then it lights up the universe with the sound of the Heavens.
There are many wonderful songs about love, but the reality of love outshines them all.

              Peace, love and empathy.
(The greatest of which is love.)

My right hand is holding my love for her, and my left hand is holding her love for me!

              • Aa Harvey

That is beautiful and I am very happy for the two of you to be holding holds in love, but the poem clearly says 'my hands'. Your scales are clearly well balanced and with balance comes understanding and with understanding comes compassion and with compassion comes warmth and then the warmth becomes hotter and the shooting star that is the love the two of you share and has only your two names upon it, will forever move forward into the future.
