Sweeter Than Gelato

Jamie

Sweeter than gelato

and everybody knows

her mama must've found her

down in the grove

way down

she's sweet as spring

full in bloom

like angels’ trumpets

all in tune

playin' hallelujah

under a strawberry moon

sweeter than summer wind

dancing through summer cane

in the sweet magnolia rain

I'm just sayin'

she could have been

a circus show

a holiday parade

the ocean's serenade

and I'm amazed

she's sweeter than the dawn

the chorus in the song

of the setting sun

shining on

more brilliant than the day

the brilliance of her way

is why

the heavens say

"there she goes!

shining like a star,

lovely as a rose"

sweeter than gelato

and everybody knows

      I really loved this!
IVe began studying poetry writing over the past few days.
I always wrote, since i was eleven.
I didn’t really pay attention to the
Different types of poetry I just wrote my personal experiences and tried to make them melodically flow to please the reader.
When you start looking closely at these various styles of writing, and then try learn the rules to each one.,
I find myself struggling with words and then counting them to make sure they’re within the guidelines of that paticuler poetry style.
Do you have any thoughts on the subject?

I don't have a knowledge of the styles (traditional/recognized). But I have noticed by reading different poems here, that their functions make can make a read go very smoothly, or excitingly. I usually fumble through phrasing and meter trying to best communicate each idea within the poem while trying to let the ideas transition smoothly, I think?

Glad you liked it btw! And thank you for saying so. Now I kind of want to research styles.
