I never asked for this
This change
Its driving me insane
Everything changes
Even if its amazing
It's so much and your heart races
Your lungs ache
And before you know it there tears coming down your face
Then you reach out to a wall for support
Only to realize the walls have all cracked and fallen
You can't help but feel its just foreshadowing in a dark comedy
You're next
You feel the pressure in your head
In your bones
In your chest
You cant breathe your not alowed
So you send out for help
Everyone's there
They tell you to smile
You want to tell them you cant
Scream until your throats raw and bleeding
You don't
You don't do much but simply plaster on a fake smile
Wait to be alone
Then the wailing starts
The screaming
The escape of a cold refresing peice of metal on your skin
Your bleeding
It's okay
Only for today
Because its the only way,
and the only escape
To stay just a little bit of sane
Then everything you have to do piles up and falls to the floor
The chances and missed opportunities
Are on the ground right in front of you
Your mind is sore
Pounding in your head
You cant remember the last hopeful thing you said
You try to pick them back up
They fall back apart every time
There are cracks and missing pieces you cant see and you cant get to
So you sit there and cry
and waste just that little bit of your life
Next time the change comes around,
It will be different
Maybe profound
You dont know whats in store
You know that what was is on the floor
Youre broken yes
Not too bad that you cant fix
You pick and pick at the pieces
You glue them back together
You're breathing
Theres light ahead
Light from a door with more opportunities then ever before
The ache in your chest goes away
A hopeful feeling starts to stay and settle in your stomach
Before you know it your running
Towards all the chances and dreams
Layed out in front of you
You dont even need to know exactly what you're running to
So take chances and take change in a good way
Even the bad I know its sad
But once your tears have dried
Look up at the sky
Pretend your in a movie
Where everything is hard
And so bizzare
You mess up
Then you learn from your mistakes
Everything could be so great
Just dont run away
And remember
You gotta take it day by day

Prime example of change ! Change is the only path to growth ! It hurts , however how can you grow without a lil pain ! Think of the clouds up in the sky as those are your feelings ! The clouds never stay in the same spot , there always moving , as for you ... keep your head held high and keep moving ! Your poetry is freakin awsome !
Thank you so much! I was nervous posting my poetry on here and I'm looking forward to posting more and reading more on here. I read your poem and it was beautiful.
Never get nervous for posting your art ! This is what makes you-you ! Keep posting ! Poetry is the best medicine !
WELCOME LYSSA ~ Thanks for sharing your first poem ~ Very Personal and very Challenging ! I'm 35 and I have changed every 5 years and "developed" Physically ~ Intellectually ~ Socially and Spiritually at various degrees ! I have had the usual range of UPS & DOWNS in Life & Love and survived ! Change is an inevitable aspect of LIFE and some of it is very painful and some days we want the EARTH to STOP so we can get off into oblivion ! However it is how we cope with inevitable change that makes us WHO & WHAT we are ! I am still single so I know I have many major changes still ahead ~ perhaps ! Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Every Blessing ~ Yours BRIAN (UK) Please check my poems ~ Thanks B.
What a beautiful poem and I can totally relate to the fear of showing others how you feel, especially in poetry.
These lines really hit home for me and how I've been feeling lately. Just so beautiful.
"Then you reach out to a wall for support
Only to realize the walls have all cracked and fallen"
Well done!
