I admit that I have Facebook,
To keep up with family and friends.
I also keep up with old classmates,
Because I like a story that ends.
Like many, I am not there often,
Just log on to see what may be new.
I go there to post my poetry,
And to catch up on what others do.
I go there to look at the photos,
And read about what others say.
The downside is the number of people,
That has been announced passed away.
So we use Facebook for our obituary,
Families post for the whole world to see.
I know that in the not too distant future,
Someone will be posting about me.

I love the rhyme used in this wry viewpoint on why Facebook is used. A thought-provoking read Lazer.
The young use to write a journal of their life, concerts, the mall etc. I think they have moved to other media, they left facebook for those older more "mature" individuals.
Not yet Edward, not for a long time. Good write.
I keep working just to be relevant.
You are always relevant, each of us is unique so are irreplaceable.
At least you use facebook in a good way. Some people spend all day on it! Excellent writing, laser!
I have family members who chronicle their whole lives, I think that is a bit much.
Arrghh not-too-distant future I hope! Stay around and write plenty more good stuff! 🙂
Know what you mean though. I been sending Christmas cards to people who have moved away - or even died! Oh dear!
As I get older more and more people have gone on. I guess it goes with the territory.
