Why?

Leisa Niamh

Why?

Because I said so

Why ?

Because I said so and you'll do as I say

Why?

Because I'm the adult

Why?

Because I'm the adult and adults know best

Why?

Because you need to

Why ?

Because you need to learn the error of your way

Why ?

Because I must show you

Why?

Because I must show you who's boss

Why?

Because I have to

Why?

Because I have to be in control

Why?

Because you're just a child

Why ?

Because you're just a child and don't understand

You're right!

I don’t understand!

I don’t understand why you say you know best!

How can it be best?

Mr Belton my Math teacher

Gave me a detention last week

And all I did was punch that horrible bully

He too said I had to learn the error of my way

Are you going to get a detention now Daddy?

For punching me….?

I don’t understand….

Really enjoy this as my favorite word is "WHY" an always will be

Thank you for your comment. Always ask why - thats what Ive told my daughter from day one. Don't be afraid to question things - even if an adult is telling you to do something. She's nearly a teenager now and Im sure Im going to regret telling her to always ask 'why'. ha ha

Good write but a very sad ending.

Thank you for your comment. I started this poem about a week ago, and I hadn't intended for it to be sad. Then when i revisited it, it just kind of ended up with a completely different meaning to me. It's funny how sometimes you don't know what you're going to write until you actually start.

So very true Leisa many of my poems end up with a different meaning from my original idea, that is the way the muse takes us.

            Sad yet strong message.
