As I walked in deep woods
Off a field
At John Brown's farm
When the days were warm
Feeling very lonely
A butterfly with yellow wings
Adopted me
And crossed my path
To and fro
His flirts and dances
Leading me
Farther into the trees
He stayed as I explored
And found that beauty
That makes us so forlorn
To see alone
He stayed and led the way
As I turned to leave
Weaving his waltz
Until the pine path disappeared
As a goodbye
He sprinkled me
With powder from his wings
That glistened
As it formed a ring
Around my heart
Now he shows himself in dreams
When I'm lonely
So sad the past, it passes
So sweet the butterfly dreams
That dance over our losses

A fine write Lorna. Those butterflies flutter by, and are gone! Where did the flit to?!
Never gone Orchi! No pesticides in my garden!
Two days ago we had large brimstone butterflies in the garden - today it's covered in snow - the worlds gone mad - super write Lorna
Again snow?! Oh dear..... wonder if the butterflies can survive that.......
Magical poem it takes flight and makes me happy. ww
A beautiful poem Lorna.
Lorna,
Beautiful poetry and the video was amazing! I enjoyed seeing and listen to Stella Stevens sing, “Butterfly Mornings and Wildflowers Afternoons”! She and Jason Robards were great in “The Ballad of Cable Hogue”! Fantastic movie!
Thank you for sharing!
