we huddle in a group
while the secure door
is unlocked to admit us
a small man
wild grey hair
unmatched eyes
rumpled shirt
greets us
sing-song style
hello boys and girls
how are you all today
are you visiting the wards
on your first morning
that’s lovely
who is he
what did he do to get locked up
he looks so strange
has he been here long
that
oh prospective students
was the Nurse-In-Charge
of the locked ward
he has been in charge
for a
very
long
time

Thank you Frank for my first laugh of the day.
My pleasure GF.
A fine write, Frank!
Iām wondering what your
first impression was
and what did you think about when you first met the āNurse-In-Chargeā?
~Laura~
The 'back' wards were a bit scary for a newbie like me. Rightly so, I think, as there were some real atrocities being perpetrated there under the guise of 'usual routine'.
That particular fellow was a bit of a dip-stick. Not much to learn there.
It sounds a bit scary!
You were very brave!
Naive. Each and every one of us.
TouchƩ!
