we are the student intake
to be formed
into modern
psychiatric nurses
to be taught
with the new psychology
in week one
we are rolling on the floor
bodily across each other
stating loudly
quack
quack
as each colleague
passes across
in week two
we are urged
to open our souls
and bare our secrets
to one another
in intimate
team-building exercises
in week three we are told
there has been a mistake
you are one student too many
the group must decide
which one of you
has to leave
in week four
we are commencing
an abiding association
with alcohol

Alcohol is never the way forward.
I know GF, but at the time, you know, it seemed like just the tonic!
...and this is how it goes...
Alcohol...
Let’s enjoy the moment...
Let’s celebrate...
Let’s have a drink!
I feel the pain...
I need to anesthetize...
I need a drink!
...and now the nightmares
are forever with him!
(...this is the fact for one of my family member...unfortunately...)
