Goldfish

w c

Goldfish

We spend our lives as kings of gold

That everybody sees and knows

Swimming ‘round and always there

For everyone to stop and stare

And a little like royalty

We peer through the glass regularly

At those on the other side

Busy with their peasant lives

The events of the day

Are the banquets that come our way

The ample food drifting down

To the court swimming round

In the bowl we are safe

From the ones that purr and wait

Their fantasy that we will fall

From the bowl standing tall

Our little court has its knights

That share the space with us inside

With gratitude for the bowl we're in

With a castle where we can swim

A fine write wc. Be better if the fish has a companion or two I think.

Thanks orchidee. Yes, a fish needs a friend.
