Her eyes golden shades of amber;
Burned so bright, vibrant flames of life glowing from inside.
A look so fierce even the bravest of men would cower by her side.
Running against the wind and beating it every time.
Agility of a warrior and the heart of a champion.
My shepherd;
When I was weak she gave me strength
When my heart was broken in two she made it whole
Fearless in the face of danger, not a hesitation to lay down her life to save mine.
Inseparable a bond so strong always by my side.
Until my watchful protector grew frail so very weak, her time had come.
Laying by her side until that beautiful bright light drained from her eyes.
With a heavy heart and tears pouring from my eyes I kissed her forehead and said my last goodbye.
Time has passed and I still feel her by my side you will always be my silent guardian, until we meet again my shepherd, my love on the other side.

- Comment from author about the poem: I wrote this for my Lily. She was my baby, my best friend and my greatest love. Putting her down was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. Anyone who has pets knows the unconditional love and loyalty the show... Rest In Peace lily

A lovely write and a fine-looking girl she is! I know what you mean of the loss of a pet.
Some people get a 'replacement' straight away, or some later on maybe. I don't think it's being disloyal.
Yes, pets and animals in heaven too!
Thank you. She was beautiful inside and out. I’m glad you enjoyed the write
Patricia,
So sorry for your loss!
She was beautiful...
as your heartfelt tribute
to Lily is! I can empathize with you. My daughter’s cat passed away not too long ago! We’re all devastated! I had her cat’s image immortalized on a pillow! She loved it!

Thank you! I’m so sorry about your daughters kitty.. they truly teach you about unconditional love.
Yes, they do! Thank you!
As I sit here reading your tribute to Lily, the picture of my Shelby sits on my desk in front of me. She was a Samoyed I had to put down in 1992 when she was 11 years old and vets couldn't tell me what was wrong with her. So I know your pain and loss. My condolences on your loss.
RIP LILY.
Awe! Thank you!
Very good write, the passing of a companion is so hard but I am sure that she will still be looking over you.
