Getting Sober

Getting Sober

I wrote my story down

And examined my days alive

It gave me some direction

With my life before my eyes

I took my life more serious

And tried a spiritual way

Now my life is so much better

As I enjoy these days

I’ve made many new friends

Though at times they have been tough

I sought out a sponsor friend

And he’s helped me with my stuff

I have gotten better each day

And have made a brand new deal

With my higher power

That His peace I will reveal

I have had a spiritual awakening

And I am happy with my life

To others I can relate

And for sobriety we all strive

Well done in becoming sober, a good friend of mine has now had one year and four months sober, they can say how many days of sobriety they have had.

Tell him to add water to it then! oohh heehee. A serious problem though. Can make one do all sorts of dreadful things we would not normally do.

Thanks so much, Goldfinch. I have been sober for years now, but i still try to live each day as if i were a newcomer

A fine write wc. I'm always sober. But why? Cos I always add water to it, though Goldfinch will shoot me for it! heehee.
