Damned Snake

w c

Damned Snake

He was on his belly

As he slowly went

With no good thing to do

Or way to circumvent

A little troupe was there

With their parents too

As the snake crawled away

Avoiding the little group

He flicked his forked tongue

And tasted the air a bit

As he searched for his prey

And hid from all the kids

A beautiful young raptor

Searched the bluff there some

And saw the snake there hunting

And basking in the sun

The talons came quickly down

With the sharpest beak

The snake was impaled

And the owl went back to sleep

You made me feel sorry for the little snake..... I bought an owl house once but then read that encouraging them means they will all the birds in the garden...... so gave the box away to the local wildlife group.........
